What is CellHood?

CellHood is software built specifically for managing live cell cultures. It helps researchers plan routine culture work, record what happened, organise protocols, track media and reagents, and keep every culture’s history in one place. It was designed by stem cell biologists to fit the way cell culture is actually performed.

Who is CellHood for?

CellHood is for anyone responsible for growing and maintaining cells, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, research technicians, postdoctoral researchers, principal investigators and biotech teams working with mammalian cell cultures.

How does CellHood help manage live cell cultures?

CellHood automatically schedules culture work from your protocol, highlights feeds and passages that are due, records everything you complete and builds a complete history for every culture. Instead of relying on memory, spreadsheets or notepads, you always know what needs doing next and what has already been done.

Can CellHood track media and reagent lots?

Yes. Media and reagent traceability can be enabled to match your laboratory’s workflow. You can make lot tracking optional for flexible research workflows or mandatory where complete traceability is required, with every feed linked to the media and materials that were used.

Can CellHood import existing protocols?

Yes. CellHood uses AI to convert supported PDF and DOCX protocols into structured workflows. It extracts stages, timings and feed schedules into a draft that you can review and edit before using it in the lab.

Is CellHood an electronic lab notebook?

Not exactly. CellHood focuses specifically on managing live cell cultures rather than replacing a general electronic lab notebook. Many teams use it alongside an ELN to organise the operational side of cell culture while keeping experimental notes elsewhere.

Can multiple people work together in CellHood?

Yes. Teams can share cultures, assign ownership, hand over work between researchers, add notes, review completed work and maintain a single, shared history for every culture.

Does CellHood offer a free trial?

Yes. Both the Student and Researcher plans include a 30-day free trial with no credit card required. Your trial ends automatically unless you decide to subscribe.

Is CellHood compliant with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11 or ISO 27001?

We’ve built CellHood with traceability, accountability and security in mind. Features such as audit trails, role-based access and tenant-isolated data support good laboratory practices, but we do not currently claim certification under GxP, 21 CFR Part 11 or ISO 27001.
